People’s Ethnography Lab

A Hemispheric Collection of Multimodal Participatory Action Research Projects
by Camilo Ruiz

The People’s Ethnography Lab (PEL) is a bilingual digital platform that serves as an open-access archive, exhibition space, and hub for community-driven research. Rooted in Participatory Action Research (PAR), PEL centers collaborative, nonhierarchical knowledge production with non-academic partners, emphasizing process over outcomes. By blending art, activism, and scholarship, the lab supports ethical, multimodal approaches that uplift marginalized voices and foster social transformation through dialogue, creativity, and community-led advocacy.
